WORDSWELL SERVICES FOR CHILDREN
|
|
|
Speech and language therapy training covers communication and swallowing needs associated with genetic and medical conditions, trauma, developmental delays, mental health problems and learning disability in both children and adults.
Janet, Pippa and Emily work with children who have speech, voice, fluency, language, social skills and literacy needs.
We are registered with the Health Professions Council, have enhanced Criminal Records Bureau checks and are all members of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists. Janet is also a member of the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice and the Expert Witness Institute.

Janet has a special interest in the language development of twins, due to having twin godsons, and is an honorary consultant for the Twins and Multiple Birth Association.
|
|
Pippa and Emily see children for regular speech and language therapy sessions at our clinic, their homes, nurseries or schools within a 50 mile radius of Ely in Cambridgeshire.
Almost half of the children we work with are funded through their statements of special educational needs by the Local Education Authorities of Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire. Others are funded through medical insurance, charities or their families. We currently see children for weekly therapy in
Peterborough,
Cambridge,
Bury St Edmunds,
Ely and
Newmarket.

Other children have spoken and written speech, language and communication needs associated with dyslexia or deafness. Others have learning disabilities. Many have complex needs which may also include emotional, behavioural and social needs such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Half of the children we work with have an autistic spectrum condition and we provide the speech and language therapy to all the pupils at Gretton School, Girton, Cambridge.
