The O'Keefe Programme
Wordswell provides a continuing professional development package (The O'Keefe Programme) which enables you to be fully supported throughout your career with us. You will receive continuous support from the office team and a comprehensive programme of ongoing personal and professional development to ensure that you can meet the objectives in your appraisal (Individual Performance Review). When you join Wordswell it is important to know that the learning process never stops. Our therapists continue to develop their expertise and skills throughout their careers. This expertise and knowledge is shared between colleagues. Your training and professional development programme includes:
- A 3 day NLP course with VieVolve to develop you personally as well as professionally
- 20% of your working hours every week dedicated for support, supervision, liaison, administration and training/personal learning
- 1 x 3 hour 1:1 appraisal (IPR) annually and 1 hour follow ups every 3 months
- Clinical supervision to achieve RCSLT clinical competencies for new graduate staff is provided by the University of Essex in Colchester
- Wordswell e-mail address and mobile phone which is enabled to receive and send e-mails to enable unlimited access to the office team and mentors for help and advice wherever you are
- 30 days CPD training per year directly related to the needs of the clients including time spent with colleagues at other centres of excellence
- Weekly team meetings in person or accessed via Skype
- Weekly 1:1 meeting with Janet or Murray O'Keefe or a senior therapist in person or via Skype to discuss each client seen
- Opportunities to develop a specialism and study for an advanced clinical studies certificate, MSc or PhD after 2 years successful employment opportunities to develop medico-legal skills after 5 years successful employment
- An open day for all new prospective employees including new graduates each Summer
