HELPING YOU IN TRIBUNAL HEARINGS

Janet Speaking

Parliament sought to help children with special education needs when it passed the Education Acts 1993 and 1996. These acts set up the independent tribunal system to which parents can appeal if dissatisfied. Although the current government has recently issued a green paper setting out proposed changes to the SEN system it looks likely that the appeal system will remain.

Janet O'Keefe is experienced in providing Speech and Language Therapy Advice for Submission as part of the statutory assessment (1996 Education Act) and has been attending SENDIS Tribunal hearings as an 'Expert Witness' since 2000.
